Poetry therapy is the intentional use of poetry and other forms of literature for healing and personal growth. creative therapy
I remember trying to decide a major in college between art and writing. I found my heart always combining the two. The Mandalas which i first was introduced to by Joan Kellogg at a wonderful art therapy workshop, drew themslves. Images which flowed across the page were always accompanied by poetry which wove through the drawing like water through land.
I feel art and writing from the heart have a life of their own. We just step out of the way, so our souls can express themselves freely. This is so inspiring to read about. I love it. Have also been doing poetry writing with children through the years, as well as Mandalas for therapy. The spirit reveals so many magical ways to express itself. Much Joy, Parvati
Art and Writing
What I find fascinating, aside from the joy of making art and writing prose or poems in tandem, is the fact that art making actually stimulates language. That notion has come forward in trauma research about imaginal techniques, but also in human development. Seems like another topic for a blog in the near future! Thanks for writing, best wishes,
