Video: Get Enough Sleep

Are You Getting Your Sleep?

2011 Happiness Challenge: For those of you following the 2011 Happiness Project Challenge, to make 2011 a happier year -- and even if you haven’t officially signed up for the challenge -- welcome! Last month's theme was Self-knowledge. This month’s theme is Body. If you want to start a happiness project, your body is a good place to begin, because your physical experience will always shape your emotional experience.

This week’s resolution is to Get enough sleep.

There wasn't room on the video screen to include the text of the wonderful quotation from Samuel Pepys's diary of September 1661, so here it is:

“[O]f all the night that ever I slept in my life I never did pass a night with more epicurism of sleep; there being now and then a noise of people stirring that waked me, and then it was a very rainy night, and then I was a little weary, that what between waking and sleeping again, one after another, I never had so much content in all my life, and so my wife says it was with her.”

How about you? Have you found that getting enough sleep helps you feel happier and more energetic? Do you have any tricks to help yourself turn out the light or fall asleep better?
