Ten Reasons Why Using Twitter Will Boost Your Happiness

I always appreciate Gretchen's perspectives on happiness. I'm relatively new to Twitter, so I found the information useful.

I like what John Naisbitt, author of "High Tech high touch" has to say:

"High tech high touch means questioning what place technology should have in our lives and in society. It is learning how to live as compassionate human beings in a technologically dominated time. It is consciously choosing to employ technology when it adds value to human lives. It is recognizing that technology, a creative product of human imagination,is an integral part of the evolutions of culture- and that the desire to create new technologies is fundamentally instinctive. But it is also knowing when to push back technology, in our work and our lives,to affirm our humanity. It is recognizing that at its best, technology supports and improves human life; at its worse, it alienates, isolates, distorts, and destroys. It is knowing when to unplug and when to plug in."

I don't have a cell phone. I don't have a BlackBerry or an IPod. There's nothing wrong with these devices. Twitter is a useful tool. For me, nothing takes the place of face-to-face or voice-to-voice communication.

Getting my college students to use Twitter

Well done! I agree with everything Gretchen says. It is interesting that I as a Third Ager have begun to use Twitter for my blog posts at http://www.happiness-after-midlife.com/midlife-crisis-coping-blog.html, however my college students in the majority are not excited about it. They say that with social networking tools such as Facebook life is complicated enough.
