Happiness and Work

A direct link impacting our work and our life.

How do you get across the bridge from being unhappy for so long to finding what makes you happy and furthermore do what makes you happy?

Attitude is the key. The emotions building your attitude at the beginning of each and every step you take in your day-to-day life will determine the shift.

The Link Between Attitude and Beginnings

Beginnings make a huge mark on our lives; they impact our lives inside out and outside in. Life is filled with beginnings. For example, beginnings occur after these events: learning to drive a car, starting off a running match, winning a tennis game, an exam, learning to cook a meal, starting a new relationship, diet and/or exercise program.

Without beginnings, nothing happens. This is reality: beginnings are the alphas of life. The question we need to ask ourselves: Why are we all so concerned about the outcome, the omegas of life.

In the process of being concerned with results, we overlook and dismiss the importance and the beauty that lies in those very first beginning steps and the passage between destinations. Think and feel the moment of the new beginnings. When you see the first steps your baby takes, what do you do? Run to take a photo, cry, get happy and attach a huge value to that moment. This is celebrating the beginnings of the event!

The same applies to everything we choose to pursue in life; but instead of marking the moment of other beginnings, we often elect to forget all about beginnings as a special moment. We forget the process and aim towards the end result, and then often wonder why the results are so poor and unsatisfactory. We become troubled, consumed and ultimately disappointed and angry; why didn't it work out? Why am I unhappy and why am I feeling down and overwhelmed with life responsibilities and life expectations. We get stressed and the aging process is accelerating with full speed whether we like it or not.

There are various answers to this challenging question and it's never one size fits all.

In fact, it's all up to you; the free choice you have and all that you are passionate about. You control how you start off your race; your beginning steps and the attitude you apply and infuse into what makes you tick? What is on your priority list? And what is dear and heart warming to you makes you feel liberated and happy.

The choice is yours. Attitude is something you can embrace and control. You can switch it just like a LIGHT switch. You can turn it on and upwards and the light and the clarity is guaranteed to follow.

Weight Loss: Are You Affected by Forgetting About Beginnings?

For example, let's talk about the desire to lose weight.

In the beginning of your weight loss efforts, you were very enthusiastic about joining the program. You followed it step-by-step and invested tremendous energy, time and effort into your "weight loss account." You were disciplined and stayed on track. The scale showed you good results.

But as time moved forward, you began to get off track. Watching television in the evenings feeling alone and troubled with your unhappy reasons, you got into the habit of eating ice cream. With each day, you increased the ice cream serving size with the perception that the ice cream was holding a key to your happiness.

At the end of the program, you realized that most of the weight you lost in the beginning came back into your life. You blamed it on everything you possibly could but forgot to acknowledge the simple fact that you withdrew from your weight loss account, applying an attitude designed by your free will. You depleted the account and you didn't like the number showing up on your scale. You felt like a failure and you couldn't turn the clock back.

Unhappiness replaced your exuberance and your beginning excitement faded.

We desire to be happy people and we want happiness, therefore we must at all times pursue the relationship to lead to our individual happiness. We must continue and enjoy depositing into the respective account instead of giving into the reasons we paint our unhappiness with.

Happy beginnings. Happy attitude at work, at home and everywhere else between destinations. Happy life.
