Be Open for Positive Change
I have found that it helps to look approachable, whether you are a boss or employee. If there is a communications gap, try smiling more, look people in the eye, don't rush by as if you're too busy for a chat. Even if someone says grumpily, "What are you smiling at?" use it as an opener to start a conversation. Although you thought the person was angry at you and avoiding you, you may find that you are not the cause of the bad attitude. If you open up you can nip anxiety in the bud. You are so correct Lynn. There's a lot of distracting chatter, especially during the busy holidays. But, as the saying goes, you make your future today. If you think of failure, that is what you'll get. If you have a bad boss, or TOT, and don't do anything about him/her then you will continue to experience defeat. Tame Your Terrible Office Tyrant made a great addition to my own self-help library. I'm encouraging others to learn how to "parent" their bosses in 2012.
