During the past couple of years, there has been a great deal of pent-up demand to conduct a job search for greener pastures and the elusive "perfect boss." Due to high unemployment, many who have been fortunate enough to have a job - have stayed on. They are now pondering if it's wise to start looking. However, the adage, "look before you leap," is always wise to consider. Read More

It's important
I couldn't agree more with "take a chance before you leap". I found a new job about 3 months ago because the old one felt like hell after 5 years of bickering with co-workers and having to tiptoe around an irritable boss. It's "out of the frying pan...", classic. New place, old problems, plus new challenges. I start to think I could somehow cope with the previous place. Wish now I thought more about it. Great article.
Exactly right
I agree. Definitely do some soul searching before you jump ship. Your new job may not be the life boat that takes you away. If you want to see change, then change yourself. Nice to read this.
maybe I should
I have a real meanie of a boss, the kind that puts you down any time he can. It's getting harder and harder to put up with my TOT. I tried talking to him, and to his boss, too, but it's almost like I don't exist. I'm looking forward to your next article, the one on "when it's time to leave" - it may be something I have to do.
taming the tyrant
I've been thinking of leaving my job for a while now but this article makes me think I can manage my current situation, rather than try and start anew in these uncertain times. I've been using some techniques from your book to manage my overly demanding boss, quite successfully. I think I'm going to wait and see if I can "tame my terrible office tyrant". Thanks.
At the end of the rock pile
I've been turning over every stone looking for the hidden gold in the job I am holding now. But I keep finding snakes. I have rewritten my resume ... I've read most, if not all, of your previous blogs, here and elsewhere on that subject ... now I'm ready to take a positive step into a brighter future. Looking forward to your next blog.
