My Double-Nickel Birthday: Over 55 But No Ticket Yet

I have searched and scrambled and longed for and wept over precisely what I didn't feel I got at age 5, but it was all in this year's birthday card. Read More

Very True

We can act like adults all we want but we really do want what we've always wanted since we were five: assurance, love and validation--even if they are multi-syllabic.

You nailed that one: ditto for me

Happy Birthday!

Happy birthday! How true that

Happy birthday!
How true that one has to go around always trying to get others (and not just any other, but important to us ones) to admit that we're doing it well, acknowledge how we're trying and making things. Such a nice birthday card!

Also I wanted to say that I always enjoy your posts very much. I love reading them, most of the times I feel better afterwards. So, keep up the nice work :)

Happy birthday

You are so right about how one is always looking for others (and not just any others, but important to us others) to validate that we are doing well, to acknowledge the efforts and who we are. And they shoul do so often.

I always enjoy your posts very much. I feel better afterwards with most of them and I look for them.

Happy birthday!!

Well, well, well...

I just turned 50, and for the past 5 years, I've been trying to evolve (see, I didn't say devolve) into the little girl I was... That one who'd look at the world with her eyes wide open in awe...

Good for you Gina!

My double-nickel birthday

I was on vacation and missed your birthday. Just finally got to reading my google reader where you are snugly located so I won't miss anything you write.

Happy Birthday, and I fully understand wanting to frame your card. I hope it's in a prominent location where your eyes fall on it every day.

Ellen
