Great poem and so true
A few years ago I dated a man for three dinner dates. I realized he wasn't for me, a tad too much of a narcissist.
2 weeks ago I noticed that he had recently married a woman who is a more naive version of me. She writes enthusiastically about her new husband in her blog and is very excited about being married. I notice that she's living in her house while he is living in his house, 40 miles away. I notice that she is doing all his typing, has set up his blog and is managing all the content because he doesn't type or use a computer, which is something he had requested that I do though I told him absolutely not. I notice that she is driving him to all his doctors appointments, to the grocery store and to all his special events, because he doesn't drive or own a car. I notice that she made a special picture album of their marriage and that he has failed to mention anywhere or to anyone that he has gotten married.
I'm so glad I'm not her.
Thanks, Crimson, for your funny and heartfelt reply...
And I think you've written a short tale a lot of folks (women and men a lot) will sympathize with and appreciate. Thanks again and congratulations on your wise escape.
Recycled
I loved him
I loved him well--
well enough to clean out the attic
he used as a heart
and dusted off the mirror
he used as a mind.
You hoped I'd do better than you did;
You doubted it.
You were right!
Are YOU available?
=)
Kelly Cash, you are right on the money...
as usual! Very smart and very funny. Thanks, always, for your insightful and cheering responses.
Your admirer,
Gina
Thanks for the reminder...
...of what I'm not missing.
