As we learn to "service ourselves," we grow less tolerant of human partners. Read More

I haven't read something so
I haven't read something so prejudiced against new media since Aristotle's rant about written language corrupting the youth of the world.
hey anonymous, thanks for
hey anonymous, thanks for your comment.
but let me ask you this: is your girlfriend or boyfriend virtual? and if not, does that make you a traitor to 'new media'?
cheers

Hm
Really good article. I think it's interesting how people are becoming this way. And while this post deals with sexuality, which merits its own analysis, I feel like its subsumed by something even bigger -people are alienated by each other in a way that I don't think we were in the past. It seems like men and women don't like each other much anymore, let alone the sex problem. People don't like each other. Communities don't exist like they used to. Families are breaking apart.
For various reasons, people feel they are able to share some of their inner selves with me, and I've listened to a lot of people over the years. Most people don't even like their friends.
Excellent article
The frogs are starting to boil....
We write on this too: http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/cupids-poisoned-arrow/201102/anti-lo...
LOL
Otaku... are advanced? Hah, no. Never. Sleeping with body pillows in your mother's basement and having candle-lit dinners with your computer monitor, while balking at the thought of bonding with those pesky "normal people" who don't meet your expectations and sometimes poke at your fragile, cartoon porn-addled psyche, are signs of a rapid devolution, not evolution.
Correct observations, wrong conclusion
I think your observations are correct. Men are having sex by them self in front of computers as they have with Playboy magazines for a long time. But the reason isn't because men don't like to have sex with real women, it's because you can't turn a real woman off when you finish. As men consider the advantages and disadvantages of both, because of the decline of quality of women, well your observations speak for themselves.
Worse than dead
Sex is now more like a zombie, neither dead nor alive.
One of the comments at the Guardian got at why the artcle there is essentially male-bashing:
* single woman w/Mad Men or rape romance and vibrator = smart, strong, successful, independent, and empowered; you go grrrrl!
* single man w/equivalent technology = pathetic addicted loser who "can't get a date"; it's a crisis in masculinity, and trumpeting the decline of men, so he needs to Man Up!
Really, you can't make up what double standards have become.
One of things Kay Hymowitz was right about was how the whole culture has become a cheerleading section for women, while simultaneously berating, belittling, and trying to bully and browbeat men into compliance with traditional sex roles ("His" only).
No wonder men are heading underground in droves. You go guys!!
Japan is actually way behind us, as the Holocaust of Desire happened here back in the 1970's and 80's.
