Shrink Rap Today

Three psychiatrists explain their work.

Shrink Rap Expanded--An Introduction

Shrink Rap psychiatrists join the Psychology Today blogs!

For the past (almost) five years, Steve Daviss (Roy), Anne Hanson (ClinkShrink)  and I (Dinah) have been blogging together at Shrink Rap.  What started as a whim developed into quite the project.

Several months after we began Shrink Rap, Steve insisted we needed a podcast and My Three Shrinks has now aired over 55 episodes on

iTunes.  Then I insisted we needed to write a book, and now we are eagerly awaiting the release of Shrink Rap: Three Psychiatrists Explain Their Work, by the Johns Hopkins University Press this spring.

We were thrilled when Psychology Today asked us to blog over here!  To maintain our identity (and what remains of our sanity!), we are going to start by re-publishing some of our older Shrink Rap posts.  Why we would we do that, you might ask?  Well let me start by telling you that nearly five years and three bloggers later, we have over 1,400 posts up on Shrink Rap.  Some of it is fluff: we ramble about ducks and chocolate and whatever strikes us in the moment.  Often we just make our readers aware of interesting things going on in the world of psychiatry with very little of our own commentary.  We post funny YouTube videos, Anne draws animated caricatures of all things silly and Steve likes technology.  Some of the our more serious work gets lost in all the fluff.

This blog, which we're calling Shrink Rap Today,  seems like a good place to resurrect the more instructive and thought-provoking  writing we've done about topics in psychiatry.  We'll still be blogging at Shrink Rap, so if you want the whole deal, please do join us at the original Shrink Rap!  And please, we love dialogue and we've learned so very much from our readers, so don't forget to join in the conversations by leaving your comments.
