Today's the day that O.J. Simpson finds out his prison sentence for his recent convictions for kidnapping, armed robbery, and assault. There is many a question this saga might inspire in the curious behavioral scientist: How much of a role did Simpson's past play in his current treatment by a Nevada jury and sentencing judge? How are those Americans who celebrated Simpson's acquittal in 1995 reacting to his recent legal problems? Will the available technology in the prison library be sufficient to allow Simpson to continue his fledgling literary career? And so on. Read More

I really don't think O.J.
I really don't think O.J. killed Nicole Simpson. Nicole was known for her promiscuity even while married to Simpson....admittedly sleeping with several of his close friends.
Why would a man get upset about anything his ex-wife is doing...when he is not even married to her anymore and has a girlfriend himself? He would have snapped when he was married to her and she was sleeping around LA.
Don't get me wrong..I think O.J. is a low-life, worthless scumbag, with an arrogance that is repulsive. But I don't think he killed Nicole.
This verdict was just vindication for what many believe he got away with ....The murder of a bleached blonde.
O.J. could have just retired and stayed out of the public, but he chose to continue to aggravate everyone with his brash arrogance. He's a stupid man.
Jail....may or may not humble someone who is so full of himself.
inappropriate celebration
I think part of what evokes so much hostility in whites when discussing O.J. Simpson is the way that celebrations over the innocent verdict wrongly assume many whites of having poor morality and racist tendencies. It is very true that many rich white men get off the same way O.J. did but I beleive most white people find this to be just as dispicable as O.J's innocent verdict, there simply weren't people dancing in the street for other immoral trials. Just look how people responded to Enron. The rejoycing over a killer going free in the O.J. trial sent a message that whites were getting a taste of thier own medicine when in fact it was never a medicine most whites wanted to swallow. Few people want to see a violent murderer go free, be he black or white. Instead of taking the opportunity to make a statement about right and wrong, many blacks instead chose to make a statment about thier ability to join the immoral ranks of mis-used wealth. It was a victory not for blacks but for errogant criminals with the means to buy thier way out. I hope that no one ever rejoices for a criminal of any race again. Celebrating someone positive, like the election of Obama. That is a step forward. The O.J trial was just an embarassing step backwards for all of us.
