South Park has the right to be in poor taste. I won't let my kids watch it. The show can be disgusting and insulting. The creators cater to the crassest and lowest parts of the culture...and they have the right to do so. Yet Comedy Central not only removed all mention of Muhammad in a bear suit, but also edited out the 40 second speech at the end of a recent episode about not caving in to fear and intimidation.
How do you like that? Bleeping out a speech on not succumbing to fear because you are scared? Pathetic.
Some very ill people claim that God wants to kill comedy writers who write bad jokes. Not only kill, but "Burn in hell for all eternity". Ouch! Is that why we never see Carrot Top the comedian any more? Has he too been killed and is now becoming shawarma kebab in hell? Maybe on American Idol we can have a new punishment like this for bad taste or lack of talent.
Simon Cowell at his nastiest does not kick them off the show 'into hell for all eternity'.
The people who make death threats against comedy writers are simply ill.
Delusions are defined as "A fixed persistent false belief." Clearly, believing God wants people executed in his name is a delusion. This censorship by Comedy Central will only empower more ill people. This is classic bad parenting. The response should be "I am sorry dear, my little snuggles is NOT allowed to kill anyone. God actually LOVES people. You can't kill your brother. Now, you have to be on a 'time-out' until you have better behavior. And....USE YOUR WORDS! No killing."
Then ignore the kid and get on with your business.
I don't like South Park. I think they ARE insulting and set a VERY bad example for children. I actually like the English language, and I think profanity is an unintelligent person's excuse for a vocabulary.
However, South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker have the right to practice satire as they see fit without their own network undermining them and emboldening poor and dangerous behavior in the future. I promise you, the next ill person who believes violence is acceptable as a form of catechism or religious practice will note the effect these first ill people have had, and then repeat it.
That's what happens when children get their way with tantrums. They do it again.
