Give The Kid A Chance

Marijuana is a dangerous drug and even gold medal winners make mistakes.
Does anybody own an appliance, an article of clothing - perhaps a hat or scarf that came into existence in 1985? I do - I own many. It does not seem to be that long ago! So here comes an Olympic swimmer who was born that year. A remarkable athlete who wins 14 -count em - 14 gold medals. Then a picture comes out that shows him sucking on a water pipe and the media goes mad. The shock, the impurity of it all. Kids will think it is ok to smoke pot - why it is the breakfast of champions. Aren't youngsters smarter then that? Why not use the behavior of young Mr. Phelps to open a dialogue that will allow researchers and clinicians to tell the truth: marijuana is a dangerous drug and even gold medal winners who are not as old as my washing machine make mistakes.
