Let me get this straight...

Like you, Josef Stalin and Troffim Lysenko were militant atheists (ulike the father of genetics, who was a Catholic monk!)... but you think the lesson to be drawn from the evil and idiocy of Stalin and Lysenko is that belief in a Creator is dangerous?

If anyone has missed the point here, it's you! What's dangerous - at least, in my not-so-humble opinion - is a militant denial of science, whether occurring in the context of blinkered religious fundamentalism, zealous Marxist orthodoxy, post-modernist hyper-humanist claptrap or any of the regrettable but seemingly unending examples of all-too-human, mind-narrowing lunacy.
