One Man's Personal Battle with Adult Attention Deficit Disorder

Google Doodle & ADD – $268 Million in Lost Productivity

Is Google impacting the challenges of concentrating or focusing?

Is the world suffering from ADD? This is too funny, in the ADD/ADHD world the struggle to maintain

focus and concentration can be a real challenge. Now we learn that Google Doodle's Les Paul guitar doodle may have cost the world in the area of $268 million in lost productivity!!

According to Extreme Tech "the world spent 10.7 million hours pretending to be guitar gods by strumming the Google Doodle and resulted in lost productivity of around $268 million, assuming that the average Google user earns $25 an hour. The Google homepage doodle was posted last week on the 9th and 10th of June to honor electric guitar pioneer Les Paul's 96th birthday." According to analytics from Rescue Time, 740 million visited the Google page and spent 26 seconds more on the page than they usually do. If you crunch the numbers, 740 million times 26 is 5,344,444 hours. Over two days that's a total of almost 10.7 million man hours spent playing with the Les Paul Google Doodle. Apparently, it cost Google only $15,000 to make.

With ADD and challenges concentrating or focusing, you may be like me if you use Google.......those entertaining Google "doodles" you see when you land on their search page are great, but can be a little distracting. I must admit, as an amateur guitar player who isn't very good, the Les Paul doodle was a distraction for me. I strummed for a few minutes and loved it. Then, realizing a few minutes had slipped away.....I managed to get myself back on track and on to my original task. I'm proud to say, I contributed to the $268 million in lost productivity! Its a few minutes well wasted, if you want to check it out here is the link Google Doodle Les Paul
