One Man's Personal Battle with Adult Attention Deficit Disorder

Change Management With ADD

This will help an ADD'er better understand and adapt.

No, I'm not taking about the management of change in your purse or pocket, all those coins can get annoying though. Over the years in my working career selling small, medium and large size deals has always had an impact of change of the organizations I have sold to. I'm sure there are many of you who are already asleep with the thought of a sales guy telling a story. That's OK, I can put myself to sleep on occasion too :)

This change within a company and how it is managed is referred to as Change Management, stay with me.......it gets a little more interesting as you read on. When a company would implement a technology or software tool that I sold, they would need to come up with a Change Management plan in order to ensure the tool was accepted, people became familiar with it, learned to use it and understood why it was implemented and how it will impact or benefit the organization.

As I sat in a meeting recently, the issue of Change Management was discussed and it got me thinking about people with ADD. Yes, imagine that.....I was in a meeting and my thoughts wondered to another thought. Could all of us use a Change Management strategy? I knew right away the answer was yes. Back on February 4th 2011 (ya, so far back :) ) I posted an article called Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes where I spoke about change and how ADD seems to be a challenging combination for both men and women. Many ADD'ers close their mind to change, as do people without ADD. So, why not consider a strategy in managing change, or Change Management through ADD. A company will look at the Change Management process and ask them self some very important questions like:
-How do we manage our employees accepting this change?
-How do we educate our employees on this change?
-How do we make sure our employees understand the importance of this change on our business?

The same can be used for people with ADD to help them through change by altering the questions from a business to personal perspective:
-How do I manage me accepting this change?
-How do I educate myself about this change?
-How do I make sure I understand the importance of this change on my life?

The practice of Change Management can be adapted for personal use very easily. This will help an ADD'er better understand and adapt.
