Parental Lying

Parents stretch the truth, feign ignorance and tell little white lies to influence their children's behavior. What does it matter? Should I be concerned? Here is the honest truth about the implications of lying on Parent Well-Being. Read More

I think the more you lie to

I think the more you lie to your children the more they will think all adults lie to them. This makes it harder for children and then later on as adults to trust people. This was true for me anyway.

Training kids

Kids can definitely be a challenge due to their curiosity and blunt truthfulness. I believe that kids model the people closest to them. Therefore if you want your child to act a certain way or would like them to perform a task, then you as the parent or coach need to model that behavior at all times so that you are the model for that child. With enough repetition and reinforcement children typically respond appropriately. As a former teacher I have used this strategy to get kids to habitually act in positive ways. I recently started a basketball camp in the local area where I am from and use these types of techniques with the kids all the time and they`ll absolutely love it.
