How does someone who is

How does someone who is pretty competent at medicine as a layman find an agreeable doctor? I am very smart, I was pre-med for a bit in college, I have volunteered in hospitals, and I tend to be good at diagnosis. I once discovered that I had a rare condition, confirmed by a specialist. I've yet to find a primary care doctor that does it for me. Any ideas?
