I've just come from a morning at the Parents/Families/Community conference that's associated with the big IMFAR autism science meeting. Autism/Social cues
i have 3 girls, the oldest has autism, the younger 2 are typically developing. when my youngest was 2, we went into a copy shop. there was a cash register on a small counter and red duct tape on the floor going out from each side of the counter for about 3 feet. my daughter with autism was ignoring the duct tape and my 2 year old said, "no jenna! you can't go over that. you have to stay on THIS side of the red line". wow, the social cues are obvious to the typically developing kids early on.

Making friends is not that difficult!!
