Space travel as a tourist industry sounds like its getting closer. But I think I've found a faster, easier and more affordable way to be transported to another section of the universe - I go there three times a week in therapy.
I often tell Ms. Analyst that our consulting room is a really a space pod, one that whisks us efficiently to an invigorating alternate dimension once she shuts the door. She sits down, we exchange hellos, and suddenly I'm not on Earth anymore.
Maybe you know what I mean. Inside our session, the two of us enter a place where almost all of the ground rules from our worldly society get suspended. Here, we freely discuss what is unmentionable in all other places. We explore fully what must remain invisible out in the sunlight. The two of us strive constantly to do nothing else than understand each other - and we say when we don't.
When all systems are go on The Pod, Ms. Analyst and I tell each other exactly what we're thinking. We express it in many other ways, too: gazes engage and avert; feelings react and interact; the analytic third is a thoughtful helium balloon, floating around.
