With another year gone and a new one just beginning to take shape, this is a good opportunity to reflect upon what 2009 meant for Social and Personality Psychology. While there will certainly be many more detailed analyses of research trends, I want to begin the year with a graphical demonstration of what psychologists talked about this past year. Below is a Word Cloud of the 2009 article titles from some of the major journals in Social and Personality Psychology (Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Personality and Social Psychology Review, Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, Journal of Research in Personality, and Journal of Personality).
Similar terms have been grouped together (e.g., singular and plural forms of the same word), and the two dominant words "personality" and "social" have been removed for clarity's sake, along with many other common function words ("the", "and", etc.). The result provides a quick graphical display of 2009's most popular research topics.
