doc i feel as if the life energy is being drained from me - i am dying - i am disappearing into an emotional vortex of confusion or pain - I am losing myself, going unconscious from lack of awareness etc. going into an emotional abyss.
also: coming apart at the "seems" might you mean seams ? An allusion to something sewn together. tearing apart as in the tearing of a seam on a dress -- or a stuffed animal losing it's stuffing because a seam tears open (another useful metaphor) for psychic pain
