At the recent annual meeting of the Society for Neuroscience, which was held in San Diego from November 13-17, four poster presentations told of how, in animal studies, early exposure to psychiatric medications impaired normal brain development. Read More

Psychiatry only changed the
Psychiatry only changed the name of neuroleptics/major tranquilizers to 'antipsychotics' to make psychiatry seem more like the real doctors in the other wing of the hospital, you know, the ones who use antibiotics and actually have a right to call themselves doctors who have insight into the functioning of their patients' biology...
Pyschiatry is quackery, pure and simple, and we all live under the threat of being forced by the state, to take these toxic cocktails of brain disabling, brain maiming, major tranquilizer drugs.
Unwanted behavior and emotions, thoughts, are not a 'medical' problem, only when you've been indoctrinated into the Church of P$ychiatry does one even entertain the notion that your child's brain ought to be assaulted with these toxic drugs.
Psychiatry lie$ and lie$ and lie$, we've just seen they get drug companie$ to ghostwrite their 'textbooks', they are absolutely the gold standard in either base immorality, or foolish, one eyed, fundamentalist dogmatism, probably both.
One thing they are not, is real doctors who examine the biology of people they call their 'patients'.
They are adults, who resemble children playing doctors and nurses, playing with their little bubbling test tube chemistry set of tranquilizer drugs, a completely laughable profession of quacks.
I wouldn't bother worrying about such clowns, if not for the fact they pose a clear and present mortal danger to us all, because they have the backing of state sanctioned force, and governments reserve the right to hand us over to them, so despite their laughable claim that they are 'scientists' and 'doctors', we do need to keep informed of their every, seemingly daily self serving scandalous activities.
This article is right, millions of brains are being maimed by these 'biological psychiatrists' who tellingly don't even examine anyone's biology before flooding said biology with toxic drugs.
If you believe in this crap, at least have the honesty to admit to yourself your belief is just that, a belief, a leap of faith, in a manchild in a white coat who tells you with a straight face your kid has a brain disease, when you both know full well he's never examined your child's brain at all. Together, you take a massive leap of the faith and before long, years of drugging have passed and you're in too deep.
Early Intervention in Psychosis
It is of great concern that Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) a relativley new concept, is based on the premise of introducing psychotropic drugs at an early stage to young people.
Such an approach (advocated by Max Birchwood as well as others)argues that giving psychotropic drugs early would help young people avoid neurological changes that may be produced through psychotic episodes. And that (without evidence) giving drugs early would produce better outcomes.
I find it horrific that the drugs themselves are likely to cause more long term harm than good. EIP advocating early use of neuroleptics (atypical neuroleptics) seems only to serve creation of a market and sale of expensive drugs.
"avoid neurological changes
"avoid neurological changes that may be produced through psychotic episodes"
Total B.S!
Please elucidate for us the replicated demonstrated neurological changes 'produced through' the state of mind you choose to medicalize, and call a 'psychotic episode'...
I've been through these states of mind, there's nothing 'medical' about them. Nobody examines your neurology when you are labeled 'psychotic'.
Sure you can medicalize them, these states, through wishful thinking and buying into the belief system of the 'medical model', but nowhere is anyone proving real disease.
And a period of time where you thought a certain way, can be called or not called an 'episode', just as a period of time when you loved a certain person can be called an 'episode', I don't feel it is helpful to call it an 'episode' though, it's just a period of time, and slapping official sounding language on it doesn't make it any more 'medical', just makes it sound more 'medical', that's psychiatry's number one trick.
Of course you're right though, so called 'EIP' is nothing but junk science, as is all of psychiatry.
Smashing a brain with tranquilizer drugs when someone thinks an incorrect thought and is confused, is not science, is not medicine, it's crude social control that comes at the cost of causing brain damage.
it's not me that advocates drugging anyone!
Please note that I am not advocating drugging anyone. I only make reference to those that promote this course of action.
Personally I think that those like Max Birchwoood have interpreted "evidence" to suit their needs. I am quite sure that "evidence" that shows brain changes does not take account for all the drugs coerced and forced on the brain in question. In any case a person's brain would I am sure show changes all the time depending on one's emotional state. Certainly brain change occurs when psychiatric drugs are given!
As for "psychotic episode", call it whatever you want, I'm fine with many other terms including period of madness, touch of the crazies, time of emotional distress etc. I don't want to offend anyone with any terminology.
I do know what you mean with "psychotic" and "psychosis" being quite medical sounding. It's like the BS name "clinical depression", but let's be clear these terms only serve to describe a certain state and there is zero medical evidence of any disease.
Thank you. Duly noted. No
Thank you. Duly noted. No evidence of disease.
Don't worry I'm not offended at you, I'm offended that the world is prepared to denigrate millions of people and believe they are brain diseased on the basis of fraud. It's very heartbreaking really.
The "Experiment"
Robert,
Thank you for the post, and the links to the studies.
The "experiment" with children that psychiatry is involved with will not turn out well.
Once enough years pass, we will be able to see the damage, and the children who have been used as guinnea pigs will unfortunately experience the injury first-hand.
History will get the last word... and history will not be kind to the "profession" of psychiatry.

Psychiatric Medication and Brain Impairment
It has long been my contention that psychiatric “medications” are better described as drugs, with all the connotations of damage and destructiveness. They effect a temporary sense of well-being and control, but no lasting or significant remediation of life’s problems. Depression is not an illness; and anti-depressants are not medicine.

Hi, I went on google
Hi, I went on google searching for reasons to why I feel this way.
I was put on SSRIs when I was young for OCD. I now do not get high and low feelings as I think most humans get. I feel emotionally flat every day. I also do not experience any pleasure when I touch myself, am unable to have orgasm nor enjoy sex. I thought this was all normal but deep down I knew it wasn't. I want to fall in love but I literally am unable to. I decided to look this up and I guess I realize why I have these issues, and I don't know if I will be like this the rest of my life but I really hope not. It is a very gray life.
I used to be in that gray
I used to be in that gray life. I got out. Buy and read Robert Whitaker's books, and other similar books. Educate yourself on what is going on in this.
I hope you see it is well within your reach to escape that gray life. All the best.
