Hot Mom In The House?

Why being a hot mom is bad for your health.

Who really wants to be a hot mom? The combination of often feeling unappreciated, keeping up with your kids hectic schedules, and dealing with kids who can be very challenging is enough to make any mom lose her cool. For sure, in this context, the last thing you want to be seen as is a "Hot Mom."

For over twenty years in my practice I have worked with moms who have been beyond hot...they had become so emotionally overheated that they had become emotionally burnt out.

To knock your emotional temperature down and keep yourself cool, the following may be helpful:

  • Don't take your children too seriously when they challenge you. Remember that children and teens are testing limits not just in your house but in homes across the land.
  • Keep in mind that the best discipline for your children is having the self-discipline to keep your cool, especially if they wittingly or unwittingly provoke you.
  • Create and maintain a gratitude journal. The more you actively reflect on the joys of family life, and the positive times you share with your kids, the more emotionally wealthy and less threatened you will feel when your kids test you.
  • Exercise, eat right, and get enough sleep to the best degree you can. The more you take care of your physical self, the better you will feel overall.
  • Seek support from other moms, empathetic family members, or get professional help if you still feel overwhelmed. As a mom of great value, your emotional health needs to stay high on your priority list.

The above tips are intended to help you not become hotter as a mom, but rather more calm and attractive as a person. Remember to use these strategies and you will stay cool and truly never let them see you sweat.
