HM, the famous neuropsychological patient who couldn't form new memories, died earlier this month, and his memory impairment was every bit as debilitating as the textbooks say it was. Thank you, Gary!
Thank you, Gary, for the excellent article and for highlighting the iPhone ministry and brain injury website. I'll bookmark it and have the thrill of enjoying it for the first time many times. Grin.
It's well worth mentioning that my optimism comes from my faith and knowing that through Jesus our Christ there is, somehow, gift in everything.

A wonderful article by Gary Marcus. It is indeed an honor to have Deacon Patrick as a friend. We met more than a year ago through the online support group, which has helped thousands if not tens of thousands of people. He has been an inspiration to me (as I pursue my PsyD in clinical psychology with homes of being a neuropsychologist someday) and to the many he has interracted with. Also, as he noted, so many of us after TBI (and maybe just as many before) find solace in our faith in Jesus. Otherwise, making sense of this backwards world would be impossible. Knowing that one day there'll be no need for compensatory devices (Heaven has banned them!) makes living and serving others here on Earth that much easier. Thank you, Gary, and thank you, Patrick. And thank you, my Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ.
