Behaviorism and Autism

Thank you for an interesting and informative post. I work in the field of Autism, and Behaviorism is very common in this area. Many children have intervention plans based on the application of this science, referred to as Applied Behavior Analysis. As you mentioned, direct observation of each student's behavior is key, as is using observation data to determine which situations precede a certain behavior, and which situations occur after the behavior to maintain its frequency. This data helps us to teach the student new, positive behaviors. Certainly these branches of Psychology can work together to provide excellent services for our clients. Thank you again for the thought-provoking post!
