political candidates for office swear and curse and threaten, but make sweet music here
Politicians say some shocking things...shocking, if you just arrived on this planet, that is. A cartoon about promises, promises. But they better get prepared for some rebuttals from the other candidates!
California had some interesting campaign strategies last year, including a video Carly Fiorina made of her opponent, Tom Campbell as a sheep! And the whole nation watched the well-publicized and well-funded Meg Whitman campaign against the well-known previous governor, (3 times!) Jerry Brown.
The drama was amusing, but the rhetoric can get tedious, just washing over us in promo spots and ads.
Maybe that's what made me think of the idea for this cartoon: I suddenly saw a cartoon overview of the whole political process, and how, put in perspective, the clanging slurs, innuendos, and even threats, could sound almost like music. (An interlude.) But this is the kind you hear only every 4 years, fortunately, as savvy campaign managers target their opponents, and their constituents, ever more forcefully.
The man in the cartoon shouting in blue (Democrat) is Jerry Brown, and the woman in pink (red, R) is Meg Whitman. I don't know who the other guy is. The symbols in the speech streams are substitute swear words that cartoonists have been using for decades. I also threw in some death symbols for good measure. :)
