Ink Blots Cartoons

More than just the funnies.

Honk if I'm Rude

A cartoon about how to use good manners to improve your driving record.

As a political cartoonist for California, at Calwatchdog, I have to cover the DMV and the law, of course.

But when it comes to real life driving, we all have a choice: we can invite Miss Manners to be a backseat driver.

I've read 2 of Miss Manners' 700 page books, and found them fascinating...and they inspired this cartoon!

Good manners are not just about what fork to use, or how soon to send a thank you note (in 3 days, thanks.) Judith Martin ("Miss Manners") writes about complicated situations we all find ourselves involved in from time to time (meeting your ex with a new girlfriend at a dinner party?) and how to handle them with such grace and ease that everyone feels more relaxed, and you feel like a well-bred winner.

Good etiquette is like social networking, but in person!

(It's a little difficult to read the small signs in this cartoon, so I'll text them here.) Caption: IF MISS MANNERS WERE THE MAYOR. Various street signs say: Welcome! Drive very very nicely! Please stop. Wave! Thanks for not littering.
