Of course he was attracted to the outer shell as most men are, but with time respect and trust spawned a deeper feeling than just lust, love and partnership replaced that primal emotion. That is not to say that in the throes of passion lust doesn't stand tall(pardon the pun). They also seem to have a relationship based on financial and domestic equality. They also seem to share the burden of supporting the other in times of need.
