Number of Lifetime Sexual Partners…Check Your Testosterone Levels

There are many factors that determine the number of lifetime (opposite sex) sexual partners that an individual will have, including one’s hormonal profile. Men’s levels of circulating testosterone in part determine their “Casanova” quotient. Read More

What Comes First?

Does having a high testosterone level cause men to have more sex partners or does having more sex partners lead to higher testosterone levels? In the study on sex clubs and testosterone the men that participated in sex had higher levels. Driving the Porsche lead to higher testosterone levels. Why wouldn't being driven to have sex with multiple partners from some psychological drive or change in life situation cause higher testosterone levels? For example, a husband that married young and was faithful to his wife for 25 years and then widowed has multiple partners over the next decade until settling down again. Did he have lower testosterone during the first marriage? Did his testosterone levels change after the death of his wife? Would his testosterone levels stayed down had his wife not died? Did his testosterone levels drop after the second marriage?

Being high T comes first - a high-T man larger, stronger, more risk-taking, extroverted, etc. In other words, high-T men are highly masculine men and low-T men are effeminate. Unsurprisingly, women are sexually attracted to masculine men while seeing a effeminate men as friends or, even, brotherly, i.e. non-sexually.

On the other hand, testosterone can vary but not to the point that a masculine man becomes a sissy or a effeminate man becoming a brute.

Masculine Vs. Effeminate

If you are relying on T levels to predict # of sexual partners and you include the extremes of effeminate to body builders taking testosterone supplements in the predictions, then of course T levels are predictive. However, within the spectrum of normal looking men, other factors must predict number of sexual partners. For example, Tim Tebow says he's a virgin. I doubt he's walking around with low T. On the other hand some of these Hollywood actors that are extremely metrosexual are seemingly sleeping with multiple women. Doubt they are high T guys looking at their jawlines, behavior, etc. How predictive is T once you exclude the extremes from your studies?

Prompteb by the above post, I checked out Tim Tebow's pics. His cheeks seem rather puffed up and his face seems to have a high level of fat content, all of which attest to low T levels (barring his prominent jaw).

Well, testosterone would have to come first before a man was even interested in sex, so there's your answer on that one, smart guy.
