Transcendental Meditation

The Transcendental Meditation technique settles mind and body so that the nervous reaction to stress is reduced. Indeed, you can see how well TM works by looking at a meta-analysis of the current scientific literature on anxiety, which used one of the most accepted stress measures, the Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. In a study published in the Journal of Clinical Psychology, researchers compared Transcendental Meditation with various other relaxation techniques, including Progressive Muscle Relaxation, EMG Biofeedback, Herbert Benson’s Relaxation Response and other meditation techniques. They found that these programs functioned at placebo levels. For more info try:

Coping with Stress

Thank you, Dr. Sinatra, for the comprehensive article on coping with life's adversities. I've also been practicing Transcendental Meditation for a number of years and have found it to provide inner reserves of strength and stability. I am not alone in this result. An impressive body of peer-reviewed research on TM shows that TM meditators experience a wide range of benefits to mind and body. Good advice

Thanks for the great advice. A lot of the advice is stuff I've been hearing for years, but I realize that I can't hear it enough.

I'v been practising meditation for years, also, and I find that it helps keep my mind from running amok in the first place.
