In March 2005 an issue of OUT magazine-a magazine for gays and lesbians--included Erik Piepenburg's article titled "Is Small Beautiful?" His article focuses on gay men with small penises. The journalist interviewed Robert Woodworth, a 59-year-old gay man and Director of Institutional Services at New York's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center. Woodworth began an ongoing series of discussions about gay men and their penises, which led to a four-week support group for gay men who feel theirs are small. Read More

Penisology
If the contents of my spam folder are any indication, you're certainly right that penis size is a big problem in our society. However, you might be interested to know that in some other societies, a good way to insult a man is to accuse him of having an overly large penis. You'll find this in one of the classic books of anthropology, Nisa: The Life and Words of a !Kung Woman, for example.
Word of caution though, when you write, "The bigger the woman's breasts, the more aroused the straight man becomes," you're on thin ice and can be accused of generalizing wildly about straight men. It's true that breasts are arousing for most straight men (in our society), but there's a great amount of variation in terms of size, shape, nipples, and so on. It's not the linear relationship you describe.
Great article. I wanted to
Great article. I wanted to add that many gay men, myself included, could care less about having a guy with a big penis. Granted, small penises (less than 5") would be a slight turn-off. Yet, as you mention, true measure of manhood shouldn't be so focused on sex, appearance and penis size.
Apples to oranges
I know this article is primarily about gay men, but as a straight woman I just wanted to jump in and say that how straight men feel about breast size has nothing to do with how straight women feel about penis size. One is an aesthetic and the other is necessary for sexual pleasure. Does size matter? Absolutely. (And women know the anxiety this causes - none of us would ever want to have to deal with it. I absolutely feel for men with small penises as there's really nothing you can do about it. It sucks. Period.) A bigger penis provides for better sex. It's a crummy fact, but it's a fact. But breasts have nothing to do with stimulation, or penetration, or any other act where size is a tangible factor in sexual enjoyment. So you really can't compare the two.
You seem to be presuming
You seem to be presuming that all people share your situation (i.e., one where the only thing that determines sexual pleasure is physical stimulation). I think it's obvious that many men consider breast size a 'tangible factor in sexual enjoyment,' like it or not. You apparently don't -- and I don't think men with small penises need your sympathy either, because that is the exact kind of attitude which this article is addressing.
I'd also like to point out that you do not have license to represent all women. ('And women know the anxiety this causes - none of us would ever want to have to deal with it.') Come on...
I am 5.5 long with a cir. of
I am 5.5 long with a cir. of 5 I have been ridiculed on size at least three times on size
In the beginning things were fine and I've had some good experiances lately, but now days these women want more size .I can't even put on a small condom and yet I'm small .
I have a very large vagina,
I have a very large vagina, so I need a well endowed man. Physically, it's about fit. Big vaginas need big penises, while smaller vaginas can make do with smaller ones. Most vaginas can accommodate most penises, since vaginas expand in width and length. When you're as big as I am, though, even without expanding I often need a little more.
Psychologically, though, it's not about fit. That's where breast size is quite similar to penis size. If the sexiest organ is one's brain, and the sight or thought of a big penis or big breasts turns one on, then it's important. Sometimes being turned on is far more important than strictly physical sensations.
I have girlfriends that think penis size is the stupidest concern in the world. I have other girlfriends, though, who have eventually broken up with every single small guy they've been with, never telling them the truth about why they broke up. Some of us are shallow, just like some men are. Others have a physical need because we are large or small ourselves.
Older straight men turn to other men later in life
I'm a 64 yr old male who's wife stopped with the sex thing about 6 yrs ago. I missed the contact and the sexual experience and turned to other men for sex. I don't feel gay, I just missed the sex. Has anyone else experienced this kind of thing?
