Thriving

For some people, trauma, unemployment or other such negative life experiences might be what they NEED to thrive, to metamorphosize. This is how it was with me - I used to be an intelligent, but horribly lazy and unmotivated person. Once the threat of debt, unemployment and the accompanying anxiety hit - I grew, I thrived, I changed.

I've started multiple companies and have begun changing how I work (mentally).

On needing challenge and hardship

Hi Andreas! You're absolutely right; some people really do need hardship to catalyze growth and positive change! You make a great point, and I congratulate you on your successes! self motivation and empoloyment

Speaking of the employment situation, Junior Achievement just put out a new report about how the country needs a more "Entrepreneurial Workforce" to remain competitive. Great article and a very hopeful message. Many of us tip toe around life with a sense of impending doom, haunted by any number of bad things that might occur to "ruin our life." As you so ably demonstrate, and the research well supports, individuals react and respond quite differently to negative life events. Our response, and our happiness, is up to us to a certain point.
