You can recognize red flags like an Iowa psychologist did. Read More
This article is misleading. Holmes was denied admission based on a personal interview, and not his letter:
"But two days after Holmes' interview, neuroscience program director Daniel Tranel wrote a strongly worded email urging the admissions committee not to accept him to the school.
"James Holmes: Do NOT offer admission under any circumstances," wrote Tranel, a professor of neurology."
My own speculation is that Holmes has schizophrenia. Once he left his parents' home to live at the university he was no longer under their direct supervision, and that new-fledged autonomy allowed him to experiment with drugs and alcohol. I'm also guessing that Holmes also chose to stop taking his anti-psychotic meds, and it was that combination that allowed his mental condition to worsen, and the result was the real-life enactment of a psychotic adolescent's revenge fantasy, to retaliate for the narcissistic injury he'd received (rejection by the graduate program).
These violent, retaliatory orgies of death inflicted on innocent people are also the way the radical, extremist Muslims tend to behave, which is why I think that most religious zealots are probably delusional and psychotic, en masse. They all need anti-psychotic meds and tranquilizers pumped into their drinking water, to protect the rest of the world from their murderous, mindless violence.
Interesting how psychology has developed into an assessment arena rather than a discipline which is designed to do more than just second guess another human being, but to uphold the mental health of another. The neurologist saw red flags but chose to further hurt the applicant by denying access to the university. If the applicant had been made to feel that if he works on other areas he may get in, then the element of hope would have been instilled. Instead authority chose to depress another mere mortal and steered him into callous and hurtful actions to undo the hurt he was feeling. Interesting again, that neurologists are paid per analysis rather than per how many they have healed. You see evidence is in the healing and not just the I told you I saw it grandiosity of those who saw it coming but meanly neglected. Helpers and healers unite and if one can do something to redirect the hurt of a potential killer then that may just stop the killing. God hates all killing. Witnessing or causing it is just one step below the killer. Who is to blame on such complex issues? We are meant to be responsible for ourselves but others hurt or neglect us. Responsibility is relative depending on one's role as well as other factors. I wonder how many who tried to get into university and succeeded become killers? Ted Bundy was intelligent and neurologists would call him a calculated killer but again there is more to it. My psychology believes that all life is worth something and these people who are constantly hurt by others and hurt others are driven off their path of life to another path of destruction. All too deep to reason here but too
deep no matter!!!! If life is how we react or respond to harm then why aren't those who are in position to alleviate harm to give goodness not, doing so? Our governments have power to release debt from themselves and others. We can teach people to prosper and do well and feel well. Being yourself is great even if others don't approve of you. A killer is not a killer at birth or according to Kant maybe he is pre-wired. Too deep for the sink or swim mental school.
