Bartonella: It infects sheep, now humans

The CDC has documented human infection with a species of bartonella bacteria most commonly found in sheep. The news is important for psychologists and psychiatrists because bartonella has been associated with neuropsychiatric disease.   Read More

Bartonella vs. ADHD

It sounds to me like another alternative for ADHD/ADD diagnosis, and maybe a few other mental health diagnoses. So I wonder how a Dr. can actually tell the difference?
I've felt tired, fatigued, and have mood swings, concentration problems, etc., and have for years (but not all my life). Doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong with me after checking my thyroid, Vitamin B, and several other possibilities. So they prescribed me ADHD medicine. This diagnosis seems to be the answer to everything if they can't figure out what the cause of these symptoms are.

Diagnosing fatigue and mood swings as ADHD --well it certainly IS a copout. You should have a thorough differential done --and do get checked for Lyme and other tickhorne disease among other things.

This reminded me of Dr. Greg Cochran

Although not politically correct in the least this discovery reminds me of Greg Cochran's "gay germ theory." In the animal kingdom only sheep and humans have significant numbers of preferentially gay males. Cochran doesn't think it's a coincidence that both species also happen to have lived in close proximity to each other for the last several thousand years. His hypothesis is that a mind altering pathogen jumped species and is responsible for male homosexuality in both sheep and humans. I guess only time will tell if he's right or not.

Bartolella

Yes Bartonella a widely overlooked problem. I have had lyme and co-infections of Babesiosis and Bartonella for many years I am certain. I was misdiagnosed by over 32 "specialists" through the years from Lupis to depression. I am a psychotherapist and knew the difference between being depressed and what I was feeling. Finally through the internet it was suggested that I had lyme. I tested positive for babesia, micoplasma and lyme. I pay out of pocket (thousands of dollars) for a lyme literate MD to treat me because my insurance won't cover treatment for over 30 days. I take huge amounts of antibiotics, probiotics and have been on IV for months at a time. Yes I have been through hell but I really began to get better when I was given medicine to target Bartonella which I tested negative for. Thanks for your blog I am enjoying the company in my misery.

I have benn diagnosed with

I have benn diagnosed with what the dr called a heterphile antibody, but it sounds the same as what i'm reading about this new B. melophagi. I feel sometimes as if my body is shutting down and most dr.'s i see have never even heard of the heterphile antibody. Does anyone know if this is the same thing?
