Stuck in the airport returning home from an emotionally exhausting day, tired and fighting an awful chest cold, my flight delayed to the wee hours of the morning, I stretched out on the seats in the waiting area with Randy Pausch's book, "The Last Lecture." His lecture, his life, has some important messages regarding our goal pursuit. Read More

thank you!
Thank you for this article, for the message you're sending, and for introducing me to Randy Pausch. I watched a bit of his youtube lecture and plan to watch the rest, when I'm not at work. He is phenomenal!
I am a 20 something nearly a 30 something and I do feel impatient to get this part over with and move on to the being happy and married part, but you and Mr. Pausch have reminded me not to waste my time and to take advantage of the life I have now and it's a very good life.
thanks for the info :)
thanks for the info :)
Thanks for the remainder
I should again review Randy Pausch´s wisdom and last lecture.
"Time is all you have. And you may find one day that you have less than you think"
All of Randy´s main tips are definitely the core of effective time management, nevertheless, I dare to enhance by some comments:
“…time must be explicitly managed.” – you cannot manage time, you only can decide which tasks should be done next, that leads you to a goal or have another special and individual meaning in your life.
You can change your plans even if you don´t have any plan. Providing a task list in most time managing situation is plan enough, except you have to structure a larger project or task with many interconnected parts. However, a list of tasks with no or weak interconnection is all you need in most real working days.
Filing system – in my website I am figuring out the importance of not only a good, but intelligent filing system.
The story of Randy Pausch is quite sad and emotional touching. However, one caveat: I have seen pictures of Randy´s working place. Follow his time management advice, but never sit in the focus of three crt monitors, unless you are convinced, that radiation from such equipment is totally harmless. However, most of us will already use flat screens I suggest.
