Advice
Tell as few people as possible of your intentions.
Especially at work.
They will badger you at every turn.
They will never stop talking about it.
This will not help.

But they're plenty hung up about food.
Avoid the static.

Calorie counting is the only thing that worked for me
Calorie counting is the only thing that has ever worked for me. I did this by keeping a food diary as without it, I would have had no idea what I was eating and how bad or good I was being.
I have actually lost 1/2 stone in the last couple of months by keeping track of everything that I have eaten and drunk. A good free food diary service that I have found is one called Purple Weight Loss (www.purpleweightloss.com). Another is Tesco Diets (www.tescodiets.com) but that costs around £10 per month.
I have also heard of Fitness Journal but that is around the same price as the Tesco one.
Good luck with your 2010 resolutions to get fit.
