I feel a lot of times people are so busy getting their basic needs met, that when they finally do.....they don't know what to do next. So...they get depressed and bored and do drugs/alcohol. We are supposed to become better people by serving others just as the Lord wants us to. Some kids don't understand this; I think that striving for a higher purpose and a sense of everlasting life are neccesary to make life worthwhile. Also they are necessary because when we are taken care of ourselves....the only reason we want to help anybody else (which makes us better) is because we know that in the afterlife we will get rewarded.
