I feel I am suffering from PTSD I have not bene diagnosed but have spoken with a therapist for about a month,I can state honestly talking does help to relieve pain but I believe that in the end all the triggers remain and the person goes back into a state of fear and hiding, can we really treat PTSD or just manage it.

I know what you are going

I know what you are going through. Every day is a struggle for me. I have been seeing a therapist for about four years, and the event had happened in july. My mom wanted me to go back to lifeguarding, but I cant

A couple of days ago, I was diagnosed with PTSD. I got PTSD this summer when I was lifeguarding. It was July 27, 2008 at 4:30 pm. It was a very hot day and I had been standing and lifeguarding since 10. I zoned out for a couple of minutes, and a little boy of about 2 nearly drowned. I was fired from my job, and I fell into a deep, deep depression. I know what it is like to wake up crying from the nightmares of the event because I have lived through it. I also know what it is like to see the event every time you close your eyes, even if it is for only a second. I went to therapy and increased my medication. I am still effected by it, but I am getting better.

Dr. Call:

I would like to apologize for my tone I used for my posts on another article (exposure therapy for PTSD). It went beyond the call.

Interestingly, I was writing this comment on that article's page, hit "post comment", and *poof* the article was gone. I assume that you decided to revise the article and took it down temporarily. Thank you- I appreciate your responsiveness to visitor's comments.
