With education aid expected to be cut by at least $1.5 billion and property tax caps, New York schools are facing not only the most severe staff cuts, but most likely the end to many educational and enrichment programs, including music and art classes.

The last two decades has seen a growing trend in America of a public that can't get enough of the performing arts. The year 2009 launched what I consider to be the epitome of the performing arts trend in America, the hit Fox television series, Glee.

Where Do the Arts Stand in Our Schools?

If arts are valued and seen to be so important, than why are they not given their rightful level of integration within the educational system? There seems to be a disconnect between how we feel about the arts and how much we see arts instruction being utilized in schools.
