It's the call of your child's unique talents. Always is it seeking to find a safe and supportive place to shine. Be it the beating of a drum or drawing of a butterfly. These are the breadcrumbs of his or her brilliance.
Take the Wright Brothers for example. At age 12 and 8 respectively they begun building toy airplanes and well, never stopped. I dare say it was something in them beckoning to be brought to this world. It may even emerge younger. Picasso's first word was "Piz-Piz" short for pencil in Italian. Oprah was nicknamed "The Preacher" by Age 2 for her notable church pew talks.
Your child need not be on the world stage but this call is universal.
In my last creativity camp, I directed each child to express their dreams & wishes in a journal. Jacob aged 3 ½ (don't forget the ½) painted his dream job: a rescue pilot. Where did that come from? Or Ashley, age 8, who wrote about editing my writing (she feels she can really help me - probably!). Or Lucas, age 5, decided to show us his musical wishes on the piano. Without ever a lesson he played all the right keys along with my song. Hmmm.
