#6 Don't Talk About Your Book

This is VERY important. I described it to a 9-year-old aspiring writer like this:

"Your story is like a balloon filled with air. You can let that air out in two ways -- in words on the page, or in words with your voice. But once you let it out one way, there's nothing left to do it the other way. So if you want to write, tell your story ONLY in words on the page."
