Compulsive Acts

A psychiatrist's tales of ritual and obsession.

Psychotic Websites

We are accustomed to people allowing the less attractive features of their personalities to blossom online. Lewd, impulsive and antisocial behavior becomes irresistible when potential perpetrators are shielded by secrecy and online anonymity. Read More

Crazies

Damn crazies!!! WTF is wrong with them. They are so f**ked in the head someone should follow them around and make fun of them. No seriously, they need some help, like a self inflicted wound needs salt to make it hurt oh so good.

More studies needed

Isn't it important to base your conclusions on data contrived from as large a sample as possible? I think your one case study has hardly provided you with enough information to accurately asses the phenomenon you are trying to nail down with one blogging. If you dig further into the subject of gang stalking, you will find something you wish you hadn't.

Young and daring

I like your start and look forward to more. I hope your carrying on the traditions of the great Peter D. kramer. Sincerely,David

Sad but true

This article really hits home. A relative of mine believes they are being "gang-stalked" and is using a number of on-line websites to validate and reinforce this view. The gang-stalking has supposedly been going on for many many years, yet no one in their immediate family, nor any friends, have witnessed anything other than normal everyday occurences. There is no reason this person would be "gang-stalked." Are there any support groups of people who've been hoodwinked into believe this stuff? I'm afraid otherwise this person will be remain a delusional soul lost in an unending loop bouncing between potentially recovering and then relapsing as they find ever new bogus online "facts" to support the delusion.

It could be true.

Maybe your relative is being Gang Stalked, innocent people are being placed on these lists. Under Community Health and Safety. If you read the story of Jane Clift you will see that it's not that far fetched.

I've experienced this

I'm a website designer for many years and I've had many calls from people who think they are being stalked by online predators and wanting to find out who they are.

diagnosed schizophrenic

Hi Dr.

Interesting blog you have here. I have stumbled from technorati.com. I have been diagnosed with various disorders in the past and can relate to your story from various angles. The gangstalking quotes you give above, I came across articles very much like this on hubpages.com. As you say, it isn't so much the thought or idea that points to diagnosis. In the Western society, what I find bizarre is the many branches of the various religions. Psychotic? Psychiatry owns diagnosis. As I am sure you are familiar, recent studies have broached the old school and recovery from psychotic disorder is now considered at least almost as possible without medication compared to with medication (long term). I am a big believer in psychiatry as a function branch of medicine and of our society but like all science it must be fallible.

This case is great. She was placed on a list. She used the Data Protection Act and Human Rights Act to sue and win her case.

Quote:
6# The words complained of contain personal information relating to Ms Clift. That is data which is subject to the Data Protection Act 1998 (”DPA”). This Act implemented in English law some of the rights recognised by Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights (”the Convention”). Later those rights were more fully incorporated into English law by the Human Rights Act 1998 (”HRA”). The Council is a public authority. HRA s.6 (1) provides:

“It is unlawful for a public authority to act in a way which is incompatible with a Convention Right”.

Physical Contact. This is an area that some targets might be able to build a case on, in regards to who was given access to their data.

Data Protection Act. Human Rights Act. These are the two acts that she was able to use to file her case.

Quote:
8# The question in this case is whether, and if so how, the Council must demonstrate that it has complied with its public law duties under HRA (and incidentally DPA) if it is to be able to assert that it has the interest or duty required at common law for there to be a defence of qualified privilege.

This is what the case came down to. The same would likely be true for the Acts in other countries.

Quote:
EVENTS LEADING TO THIS ACTION

9# As a responsible employer the Council has a policy to protect its employees from violence at work. The policy is set out in a document headed “Safe System of Work (Codes of Practice) H&NS/COP/1.14 Version 1.0 date issued 11/3/03 Violence at Work (Inc Potentially Violent Persons)” (”the Policy”).

This also fell under Violence at Work

Quote:
15# Mr Kelleher then conducted a number of other interviews. One was with Mr Gulfraz, a friend of Ms Clift. She was accustomed to helping him in making telephone calls and filling out official forms. She was at the time also helping him in a complaint he was making against the Council on a housing matter. He was present at the time Ms Clift made her call to Ms Rashid on 11 August. He heard the whole conversation over the speaker phone. Other witnesses were fellow employees of Ms Rashid. Ms Rashid did not have the phone on loud speaker but her colleagues sitting near her heard her side of the conversation. It was sufficiently unusual to attract their attention.

Witness close to Jane Clift were interviewed. Just like witnesses, family, friends, would be interviewed.

She basically used the Data Protection Act and The Human Rights Act to win her case. Targets might try to duplicate this effort with a lawyer in tow.

Hmmm. Well I speak as more of

Hmmm. Well I speak as more of a social scientist than a clinician and I find this to be really interesting. What is about the idea of having a chip in the brain that has all these people convinced they have one? Talking about dopamine and neurotransmitters or whatever is suppposed to cause schizophrenia doesn't really account for the content of narratives that you describe; if this was a science fiction novel it would be a best seller. Though I can see your frustration as a clinician trying to help your patient, I am uncomfortable with your assertion that something that makes a person feel normal and validated is the opposite of what a support group should do.

truth

I was disappointed to see the narrow and ignorant view taken by this psychiatrist. I have been in human services for 35 years. Along the way I have become knowledgeable about government mind control programs including: Projects Bluebird, Artichoke, and MKUltra to name a few. I have treated victims of mind control, and my patients have been subject to harrassment. There are several therapists who have also been stalked and subjected to harrassment. There is a lot of evidence that the US government has been playing around with psychotronic mind control for decades. This is not something to shrug off smugly, blaming the patient's pathology (even if it is there). You can be schizophrenic and stalked. The author needs to do a lot more research before he will be equipped to do differential diagnostic work with these people.
