10 Summertime Marketing Tips

Boost your private practice this summer with these 10 tips

It's summertime and for many therapists it's a time when our clients are traveling, taking vacations, heading to summer camp, and overall there may be less emphasis on problems. So use this time to percolate some new ways you can connect with current clients, welcome in new clients, reconnect with former clients, and celebrate your referral resources. Think of these 10 tips as playful divergent ideas to stimulate your creative practice marketing possibilities. Of course, do your due diligence and check with the ethics of your profession before implementing these suggestions. Above all else, explore ways you can be of service and add value to other's lives.

Tip #1
If you haven't claimed your niche, or area of specialization, now is the time. Don't worry, you don't have to exclude all other clients, instead you can let others know you have a growing specialization in "________".

Tip #2
Create a newsletter or ezine. You'll be able to stay in connection with your current clients and anyone who is interested in your services, making it easier to market your services and products in the future.

Tip#3
Learn from the experts. Now that you've got some time. Instead of learning more about your modality or taking CEU courses, invest in learning how to grow your practice.

Tip#4
Call/visit referral resources. Give your colleagues a call and stop by with coffee and your business cards. Talk about what you are up to and how you can help support each other's clients to provide extra value.

Tip #5
Create an information product so you can offer your clients different ways you can support them. Get clear on their biggest problem and create a product to help them solve it.

Tip #6
Plan a group (therapy group or educational group). There is likely a common problem your clients struggle with, such as anger control, positive communication, or stress reduction. Talk to your current clients about what type of additional support they would like. Send a post card to all your current and past clients and colleagues with the group information.

Tip #7
Host a telesummit or tele-event. You've been curious about bringing your message online and reaching more people. Now's the time to learn the nuts and bolts.

Tip #8
Plan your Fall speaking opportunities. Create your signature talk and a speaker sheet with information about your talk. Identify where you can present and contact the program director to arrange a speaking opportunity.

Tip #9
Volunteer or join a board. You'll meet new people who will learn more about what you do, plus you get to give back to your community- everybody wins!

Tip #10
Collaborate with other professionals and create an open house, host an event, or develop an ongoing series with different presenters for your community.
