This piece is spot-on (and hilarious). In my experience, my guy friends think that asking another guy out for anything other than a beer seems too date-like (when's the last time you asked another guy to dinner and a movie)? Women seem to have it much easier in this way.
I can't imagine that a beer will solve much for Gates and Crowley - but we'll see!
