There was an excellent piece on the general topic of "stage theories" today, called Stages of Grief - Time For a New Model, by our PT blogging colleague, Worth Kilcrease.
We want to alert you to a piece on the same topic that we'll post on Monday, September 21.
Prior to publication of her famous book, On Death and Dying, Elisabeth Kübler-Ross hypothesized the Five Stages of Receiving Catastrophic News. She altered that phrase to the now famous Stages of Dying, which over time morphed into the alleged Stages of Grief or Stages of Grieving—although neither of the latter two actually exist.
For 31 years we've been helping grieving people deal with death, divorce and other major losses. The single largest impediment to their well being is the misinformation inherent in the alleged Stages of Grief or Grieving.
We set about to refute those stages and the result appeared in Skeptic Magazine a year ago. Tune in Monday morning—you'll either agree with us or want to go to war about what we say. Either way, it will generate a whole lot of energy.
Shh—don't tell anyone, but if you want to steal a march on Monday's piece, go to http://budurl.com/NOStagesofGrief —you'll be way ahead of the curve come Monday morning.
