I loved what you wrote, Hara: "That our society thinks we can kill off self-loathing without killing off the 'Self'" (paraphrasing). What great insight between the Self and the body that carries our Self. Wouldn't you agree that self-loathing comes when one doesn't even know there's a distinction in the two?
