Susan Tapert

I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of California San Diego and the Program Director of Substance Abuse Mental Illness at the VA San Diego Healthcare System. My research focuses on how heavy use of alcohol or marijuana during adolescence may influence brain functioning, development, cognition, and mood. In addition, we are using neuroscience tools to investigate how executive functioning abnormalities may influence the emergence of problem substance use.
