Richard Louv

Updated and expanded in 2008, Richard Louv's Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children From Nature-Deficit Disorder (Algonquin) has helped spawn an international movement to reconnect children and nature. He serves as chairman of the Children & Nature Network, an organization helping to build that movement. He has written for The New York Times, The Washington Post, Orion, Parents Magazine, and other newspapers and magazines. He is currently a Visiting Professor at Clemson University and speaks frequently to audiences in the United States and abroad. He has appeared on "The Today Show," "Good Morning America," "CBS Evening News," NPR's "Talk of the Nation," and many other programs. In 2008, he was awarded the Audubon Medal by the National Audubon Society. Past recipients have included Rachel Carson, E.O. Wilson, and Jimmy Carter. He is married to Kathy Frederick Louv and the father of two sons. He would rather fish than write.
