Lawrence Rubin

Lawrence Rubin, Ph.D., LMHC, RPT-S is Professor of Counselor Education in the Social Sciences and Counseling Department of St. Thomas University in Miami Florida, and a practicing psychologist and play therapist who specializes in working with children, teens and families. Area chair for Psychology, Mental Health and Mental Illness in Popular Culture for the Popular Culture Association, he has edited and co-authored a number of books at the intersection of popular culture and psychology as well as authored numerous journal articles. Dr. Rubin is immediate past president of the Florida Association for Play Therapy, and has lectured across the country on the use of popular culture, heroes, and superheroes in play therapy. Dr Rubin is co-author, along with psychiatrist Mike Brody, of the new book Messages: Self Help through Popular Culture. His website is www.lawrencerubinpsychology.com.
